Surrounding Waterfalls / The Waterfall AboundAn amazing work of natural can give a relaxing feeling or cool you down on a warm day. Apart from lovely beaches, Koh Chang's mountainous landscape of fertile rainforests and steep terrain create some fantastically scenic waterfalls. The tropical jungle fauna near most of the waterfalls remind you of the forgotten former times, when people were so much closer to the nature. At some waterfalls, entrance fee is 200 Baht for adults and 100 Baht for children over 3 years old.

Than Mayom Waterfall
The first waterfall we'd like to introduce to you is Thanmayom waterfall, which is located next to Than Mayom pier on the East-side of Koh Chang. The entrance is just behind the Office of the Koh Chang Marine National Park. Thanmayom Waterfall looks the most beautiful in the winter when the water plentifully falls down. Actually when carefully noticing, this is a series of four-floor waterfall. Along the stream of Klong Mayom from the start to the end the distance is about 400 meters. Among Thai people who visit this magnificent four-level waterfall, Than Mayom is the best known waterfall on Koh Chang. King Rama V and King Rama VI both once visited Thanmayom waterfall and inscribed their names on the stones on the highest cliff of the cascade.
You can also camp at Than Mayom, near Thanmayom Waterfall, possibly at the camping site near the Office of Royal Forest Department. This is probably also the best guarded camping we know of as there is a 24-hour security guard which keeps track on everybody moving around. If you bring your own tent, it only costs you 20 Baht per night. If you do not have your own tent and want to camp here, it is possible to rent a 1 or 2 person tent for 200 Baht, and a larger tent for 4 to 5 persons for 400 Baht. Restrooms and food stalls are available in camping areas. Sunrise is one of the highlights for early risers. Swimming is also allowed.
Note : For the better part of the year the Thanmayom waterfall is not a quiet place, where you can take a dip without too much people; for that you probably better look for another waterfall.
Klong Nonsi waterfall
Situated on the east side of the island, Klong Nonsi waterfall is not far from Than Mayom waterfall. It is one of the smallest waterfalls in Koh Chang Island, with only a few levels. The waterfall is perhaps not the easiest to get to. You need to follow a 4-kilometer path which starts just after the headquarters of Koh Chang police station, which is located a Ban Dan Mai nearby Ban Klong Nonsi.
As it is somewhat challenging to reach, Klong Nonsi waterfall is not much often visited by the tourists as is Than Mayom waterfall. That explains why this waterfall features the spectacular wonder of the untouched natural. The surrounding of Klong Nonsi Waterfall is appropriate for bird watching. For the more adventurous persons you can explore the forest around Klong Nonsi waterfall riding a mountain bike and for people who want to do some serious hiking in the area you need to contact the office down the hill.
By following the small path to the top of the waterfall you can expect to see in the early morning some Barking Deer. It is recommended you keep yourself from them although they only make a hasty getaway when you are trying to get too close. When you get higher on the mountain, you will possibly see a tiger running around the area of Klong Nonsi waterfall. This seems that you won the lotto, if seeing a tiger in Koh Chang Marine National Park.

Klong Plu
It is the only waterfall on the west-side of the island, located nearby Klong Prao beach and Had Kai Bae beach. About 3 km. south from Klong Prao along the main road, you will see a sign of the waterfall on your left hand side. Turn left into the path and follow the sign for 2 km. You will then find a ticket kiosk to pay for the entrance fee and after that it is just 400 meters walk to get to the waterfall.
This is also a 3-level waterfall. Klong Plu waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls on the island. Most tourists visit the first level which is about 100 meters above sea level and the route to the second level and the third are very difficult and slippery.
The surrounding of the waterfall is always incredible and there is a mystical atmosphere, even on busy days, water can be a bit cold sometimes but on a tropical island a dive in a natural cold water basin is perhaps just what you need. Swimming and camping are allowed.
