Mostly, other islands are situated in the South of the main island. If you wish for the peace and solitude and the chance to dive or snorkel in and amongst some of Asia's most stunning coral reefs, then the outer islands are where you should head for.
Koh Ngam

On the tip of the south side of Koh Chang, Koh Ngam comprises of two islands - Koh Ngam Yai and Koh Ngam Noi.

Koh Ngam is the island where dolphins are often seen and turtles come ashore, this little untouched island has twin lagoons offering you a great location for swimming and snorkeling. The water around Koh Ngam is a perfect place to start searching for " Nimo "

Koh Kood

Koh Kood has limited infrastructure and hence is not overrun by tourists. Koh Kood is known as Thailand's 4th largest and farthest island from Koh Chang Like Koh Chang, Koh Kood is covered by mountainous rain forest.

The beaches are embraced with truly white sand and the splendid sea is charmed by incredible deep blue color. Koh Kood is a ravish island for travelers who like to get away from the busy world but do not want to completely lose touch with civilization.

Booking in advance is highly recommended as many resorts are usually full in the high season.

Koh Maak

Located between Koh Chang and Koh Kood, Koh Maak is the 3rd largest island along the coastline with an area of 16 square kilometers. From Koh Chang visitors can catch ferries which are best described as island-hopper boats at Bang Bao pier. These ferries, which are mostly converted from fishing boats, depart at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. It will take you around 2.30 hours to reach Ao Suan Yai pier on the north-west side of the island.

On the return from Koh Maak, the boats depart from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every one hour. At the mainland you can use the speedboat service from Khrom Luang Pier to Ao Suan Yai Pier on the north-west coast. Departure time of the speedboats is from10.20 a.m. to 4.20 p.m.. By this service, you will reach the destination within 1 hour, depending on the height of the waves.

Different from Koh Chang and Koh Kood, Koh Maak is fairly flat and well cultivated with coconut and rubber plantation. Koh Maak is convenient with 24-hour electricity. If you are in need of any shopping, the best area to go is Ao Nid pier on the north-west side of the island. There you can find some small caf?s with Internet access services.

Koh Maak is a great place to stay if you're into diving or snorkeling as small islands and islets that possess pristine reefs surround Koh Maak. It's also a good place for cycling as most of the island is flat, less energetic types should pitch up a hammock and devote themselves under one of the palm trees to a thick book. On the north-western and south-western coast s are long beaches and crystal-clear sea are the splendid attractions of the island.

Koh Kradad

Located just over 1 kilometer from North-East of Koh Maak is Koh Kradad. It is unique as a private island that contains only one resort. As soon as you get onto the island and walk a bit inwards, you will experience the breathing and feeling of Africa while the sand and grass on the island make you feel as if you are in Savanna.

Snorkeling in the rich sea around Koh Kradad is not that special. It may be interesting for first timers who want to try out their diving equipment. At night you can sometimes see deer on the beach at the south-west side. Remember camping is not allowed on the island.

Koh Lao Ya

This is a group of 3 small islands which are well known for their long white beaches, turquoise waters, green forests and lovely coral at shallow depths. The journey from the mainland Leam Ngob pier takes around two and half hours.

Koh Lao Ya comprises of a group of islands Koh Lao Ya Nok, Koh Lao Ya Klang and Koh Lao Ya Nai. The main island is about one kilometer long and about 300 meters wide. The island has a fine-looking beach with crystal-clear water a colorful corals, a white sand fringed island which makes a great spot for snorkeling or simply doing nothing.

At the wooden bridge on which links 2 of islands from Koh Lao Ya to Koh Lao Ya Klang, you can find the most incredibly beautiful coral reefs that you would not believe if you did not see it with your own eyes. The island can only be visited by chartered boats. Note that some resorts on Koh Chang organize snorkeling trips to Koh Lao Ya.

Located just over 1 kilometer from North-East of Koh Maak is Koh Kradad. It is unique as a private island that contains only one resort. As soon as you get onto the island and walk a bit inwards, you will experience the breathing and feeling of Africa while the sand and grass on the island make you feel as if you are in Savanna.

Koh Rang

Koh Rang is In fact more of a group of islands. The larger one is called Koh Rang whilst the smaller islands located on the north-side of Koh Rang island is called Koh Rang Lek. These islands have not enough flat space which is suitable for setting up a resort or bungalow. Koh Rang Lek has no beaches or diving spots that are suitable for un-experienced divers who not know the local currents. On Koh Rang Lek there is also not much to see, except that there is a small fresh water reservoir which supplies fresh water to Koh Rang by underwater water pipe.

On the other hand at Koh Rang island, visitors say that the island is one of the better underwater activity islands. The clear water sea around the island is enough to see a large variety of marine life, ranging from always-around Angelfish to an occasional harmless reef shark. It is good to note that on Koh Rang, Ao Cho Bay is where the Koh Rang Ranger unit is located for visitors who plan to do camping on this island can contact for more information. Ao Cho Bay itself has a beautiful beach with crystal clear water where you can enjoy seeing fish swimming around. The beach slightly slopes, which makes it good for snorkeling.
