Koh Maak
Located between Koh Chang and Koh Kood, Koh Maak is the 3rd largest island along the coastline with an area of 16 square kilometers. From Koh Chang visitors can catch ferries which are best described as island-hopper boats at Bang Bao pier. These ferries, which are mostly converted from fishing boats, depart at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. It will take you around 2.30 hours to reach Ao Suan Yai pier on the north-west side of the island.
On the return from Koh Maak, the boats depart from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every one hour. At the mainland you can use the speedboat service from Khrom Luang Pier to Ao Suan Yai Pier on the north-west coast. Departure time of the speedboats is from10.20 a.m. to 4.20 p.m.. By this service, you will reach the destination within 1 hour, depending on the height of the waves.
Different from Koh Chang and Koh Kood, Koh Maak is fairly flat and well cultivated with coconut and rubber plantation. Koh Maak is convenient with 24-hour electricity. If you are in need of any shopping, the best area to go is Ao Nid pier on the north-west side of the island. There you can find some small caf?s with Internet access services.
Koh Maak is a great place to stay if you're into diving or snorkeling as small islands and islets that possess pristine reefs surround Koh Maak. It's also a good place for cycling as most of the island is flat, less energetic types should pitch up a hammock and devote themselves under one of the palm trees to a thick book. On the north-western and south-western coast s are long beaches and crystal-clear sea are the splendid attractions of the island.
